Rough Guide to Brazil (World Music Network)
Fans of the Putumayo and Petrol Records compilations of world music would appreciate some of the albums put out under the Rough Guide title by the World Music Network. This compilation of Brazilian classic hits is a decent effort, and certainly works well in transporting listeners to the magical beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema.
The 12 tracks include compositions by Brazilian greats Ivan Lins, Elis Regina, Clara Nunes, Chico Buarque and Gonzaguinha. However, listeners already familiar with Brazilian music would find nothing new or extraordinary in this compilation.
