The Blue Lotus Festival will take place from the 13th to the 18th February 2013, in Rajasthan, India. The festival focuses on Indian music and culture. It is staged in Pushkar, an ancient sacred city on the side of a lake in the middle of a desert. It brings into one place music and traditions from across length and breadth of India, from all the major regions and genre, including devotional Sufi vocalists, mesmerizing dances and spiritual ceremonies.
Internationally renowned performers at Blue Lotus will include the voice of Sufi qawwali singer Raza Khan (introduced at music expo WOMEX 2012 in Greece), and the langa singer Bachu Khan (presented at music expo AWME 2012 in Australia.
There will also be concerts by Murra Lala Fafal and Mustafa Ali Jat, one extrovert and fun, the other introspective and spiritual, representing two different basic faces of Indian folk music and Dalbar Singh, the rescuer of a wild and rare Punjabi performance style.
Other highlights of the festival include performances by the Kalbeliyas troupe that have popularized true Indian Gypsy dance outside of India, and Sharif Idu famed for bringing his strong and intense interpretations to ancient songs of love.
