Carolina Chocolate Drops and Luminescent Orchestrii are set to perform at Duke University’s Page Auditorium in Durham, North Carolina on Friday, December 2, 2011, at 8:00 pm
After winning a Grammy for Genuine Negro Jig, Durham’s Carolina Chocolate Drops take a victory lap at Page. With the departure of Justin Robinson and the addition of a mouth percussionist and a guitarist, things have changed for the Drops, but their jubilant string-band music sounds sharper than ever.
With openers Luminescent Orchestrii — a raucous gypsy-punk outfit that channels Romania by way of New York and with whom the Drops collaborated on an EP — get ready to clap your hands and stomp your feet for the high-energy showmanship of two singular but equally explosive bands.
