Afro-Peruvian sensation Susana Baca is set to perform on Tuesday September 20, 2011 at 20:00 at Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin.
Susana Baca is the new Peruvian culture minister, but that does not stop the 67-year-old Latin Grammy-winner from giving concerts in Europe. She has enjoyed international success as a singer for over a decade.
In her music, she emphasizes Afro-Peruvian traditions, which she blends with son, salsa, cumbia or sounds from New Orleans and Spain. She is widely seen as an idol in Peru. Now she is the first black woman in her native country to assume a high-level government office.
