Rivka Amado & the Adama Band are set to perform on Thursday, August 25 at 7:30pm at La Peña Cultural Center. She will perform hauntingly and deeply spiritual renditions of songs from her Judeo-Spanish heritage, as well as new original compositions rooted in the Sephardic tradition.
Since moving to the San Francisco Bay Area, she and guitarist Joel Siegel have developed a program, A Journey Back to Spain, in which she recounts the ways the Jews of Spain have been able to maintain their identity for five hundred years, mixing historical narrative, accounts of Sephardic culture, and popular Ladino songs.
