The Shin
The Shin, an ensemble from Republic of Georgia, a Caucasian country in Eurasia to the east of the Black Sea, is set to perform at the Rainforest World Music Festival 2011 in Malaysian Borneo.

The Shin includes some of Georgia’s leading composers and musicians. Georgian-style vocal pyrotechnics, intricate polyphony and instrumental virtuosity meet jazz scat, funk, fusion, and flamenco in their unique performances.

Their concerts are sophisticated, surprising, hip, humorous, and always exhilarating – even at its most sensitive. Members of The Shin have composed original works for theatre, film, television and radio programs around the world. The Shin has performed at international festivals in a host of countries and has received significant critical acclaim for its unparalleled originality and magnetic appeal.

In Georgian shin means coming home. Although each of us has our own home and our own road home, The Shin’s music has the amazing ability to lead everyone ”home,” no matter how far it may be. It may lead you somewhere you know you’ve been before, where you hear familiar voices and you understand, even when you can’t make out the words.

The Shin will be joined at the Rainforest World Music Festival by internationally renowned Bulgarian superstar Theodosii Spassov on kaval.

Rainforest World Music Festival has been voted for the second consecutive year as one of the Top 25 Best International Festivals by world music magazine, Songlines.

The Rainforest World Music Festival takes place in the heart of the Borneo Jungle. This is where people regardless of their ethnicity, cultural backgrounds, music interests come together and have a blasting day. This jam-packed event takes up three days of musical fun features activities like informative workshops, ethno-musical lectures, jamming sessions and mini concerts.
