Adarrots Wins 6th Eurofolk International Contest

Basque folk band Adarrots won the 6th edition of Concurso Internacional Eurofolk, held in Córdoba (Spain). After winning in the Spanish round, Adarrots traveled to Córdoba to participate in the international round of the contest. The other contenders included Alale (Ireland), Banda Futrica (Portugal) and A’ssaltarella (Italy). The final was held at the Córdoba Botanical Garden auditorium (Jardin Botánico de Córdoba).

In 2009 Adarrots won the 4th contest for new artists at Festival Folk Mendebala. As a result, Adarrots recorded its first album, titled “Haizekadak”.

Adarrots’ line-up includes Iñigo Espiña on fiddle; Bingen Akarregi on flutes and clarinet; Antonio Ortega on bass; Iñigo Carballo on alboka; Rosa Godinez on vocals; American musician John Bolduan on guitar; and Sendoa Gil on percussion.
