Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) will be kicking off this season’s Art & Music Concert series with tabla master, Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri on Thursday, February 24 at 7:30 pm.
In celebration of LACMA’s acclaimed exhibition, India’s Fabled City: The Art of Courtly Lucknow, Chaudhuri will perform in a special, multimedia concert that will examine how the artistic atmosphere of Lucknow contributed to the evolution of the tabla—north India’s preeminent percussion instrument.
Chaudhuri will present the history of his training through images, geography, stories, and a virtuoso tabla solo and accompaniment performances. The program will be moderated by Robin Sukhadia.
Tabla master Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri of the Lucknow Gharana performs a special, interactive concert with guest performances by vocal and Kathak artists. Moderated by Robin Sukhadia, this multimedia performance will examine how the rich artistic atmosphere of Lucknow contributed to the evolution of the tabla, north India’s preeminent percussion instrument. Swapanji will present the history of his training through images, geography, stories, and virtuoso tabla solo and accompaniment performances.

The concert will take place at LACMA’s Bing Theater. Tickets for museum members are $18, general $25, and seniors 62+ and students with ID $5.
