Karsh Kale’s Cinema Live Tour with MIDIval Punditz to Perform at UCLA Live January 29

Electronic fusion and tabla beat musician Karsh Kale brings together a star cast of musicians including fellow Indian fusionists MIDIval Punditz for Cinema Live at Royce Hall January 29, featuring music from Kale’s upcoming album.

Guitarist Chris Buono, Ghazal maestro Vishal Vaid, and special guest Los Angeles-based electro violinist Dorian Cheah join Kale and his frequent collaborators MIDIval Punditz–made up of leading Indian/electronic DJs Gaurav Raina and Tapan Raj–for a unique concert experience with Cinema Live.

Cinema Live blurs the lines between music genres and seamlessly fuses classical Indian music, progressive electronica, rock aesthetics and orchestral arrangements in tracks inspired by film music from both East and West and set to exciting and exotic visuals. The performance is a live preview of Kale’s sixth studio album, Cinema, slated for release from Six Degrees Records/MightyJunn Records in Spring 2011.

Kale will perform his new compositions while sharing duties with the ensemble on guitar, drums and keyboards as well as exhibiting his signature electric tabla technique.

Since the late 1990s, MIDIval Punditz have established themselves as pioneers of Indian electronica. The duo has frequently performed and recorded with Kale as well as other artist including Anoushka Shankar, Sting, Norah Jones and more.
