Cape Verdean singer Cesária Évora was urgently admitted Monday, May 10th, to a Paris hospital, due to a cardiac problem. She was expected to have surgery in the evening. Consequently, all her shows are cancelled until further notice.
Cesária Évora, who is 68 years old, survived a stroke in April of 2008. She performed last Saturday in Lisbon, in a show called African Voices, together with Angolan singer Bonga. The following day she fell ill and this morning she was taken to the Emergency Department of a Paris hospital.
The Cape Verdean world music star has a new album titled Nha Sentimento, which she had planned to promote during her June 2010 North American tour.
