Solidarité avec Haiti: Earthquake Relief Fundraiser January 22nd in Minneapolis

solidarite-avec-haitiA group of local musicians, dancers and visual artists from the Minneapolis area have banded together to host a fundraiser for the victims of the recent earthquake in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Solidarité avec Haiti: Earthquake Relief Fundraiser will begin at 6pm on Friday, January 22nd, at The Cedar Cultural Center. Food will be catered by Victor’s 1959 Café and The French Meadow, among others.

The concert will feature live Caribbean, Brazilian and African music and dance by Viviana Pintado, Maria Isa, Kenn Wanaku, Doug Little & Charanga Tropical, Eliezer Freitas Santos, Yenyeré, Hayor Bibimma West African Dance Company, Mestre Senna & Afro-Brazilian Capoeira, Kenna Sarge & Voice of Culture Dance, Tiyumba, Batucada do Norte, Grupo Caribe, Brian Van Tassel, Chico Chávez, René Thompson Dance Studios, The Collective Dance Company.

There will be an art auction with work by Víctor Yépez and Bernardo Guzmán. All door, art and food sale proceeds will go directly to Doctors Without Borders / Medicins Sans Frontieres Emergency Relief Fund.

The Cedar Cultural Center is located at 416 Cedar Avenue South, Minneapolis, on the West Bank of the University of Minnesota
