The Embassy of Sweden will be presenting a concert April 13th at the House of Sweden in Washington DC with Sami singer Sofia Jannok, who just released her first CD.
Sofia was born 1982 in the most northern part of Sweden. She sings primarily in Sami, her mother tongue, and mixes jazz, pop and yoik in her music.
"My music is difficult to describe in words," says Sofia. "The tunes are dancing somewhere between the mystic of the northern light and the warmth of the comforting fire. I am inspired by the vastness of the land, the people and the meetings between these elements. "

House of Sweden, 901 30th Street NW
