Paco de Lucía Receives ‘Honoris Causa’ Doctorate from Cadiz University

Algeciras (Cádiz), Spain – Francisco Sánchez Gomes, better known as the legendary Flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucía has been conferred the title of Doctor Honoris Causa from the Universidad de Cádiz (UCA), in his hometown of Algeciras (Cádiz).

The ceremony was held at the Escuela Politécnica Superior de Algeciras (Cádiz), presided by the university chancellor, Diego Sales, and his team, as well as the Andalusian government’s Secretary of Culture, Rosa Torres.

During the ceremony, de Lucía received the Laureate Cap, the Book of Science, the Ring of Antiquity, the Medal and Gloves. Paco de Lucía expressed gratitude and his love for his parents and his native Algeciras.
