Phoenix (Arizona), USA – The Eighth Annual Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards were presented November 24th, 2006 at the Metro Toronto Convention Center’s John Bassett Theater, in Toronto, Canada. Winners include Northern Cree in two categories.
- Northern Cree & Friends, Vol. 4 – Slide & Sway – Best Hand Drum Album
- Nikamo – “Sing!” – Best Contemporary Pow-Wow Album
Since 1999, Northern Cree (Alberta) has received a total of five Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards (with eight nominations). In 2004, Northern Cree was first recognized in two categories with nominations for Best Pow-Wow Album Contemporary, Rezonate (winner) and for Best Hand Drum Album, Honoring Singers and Songmakers, Vol. 2.
