Second New York Gypsy Festival

Building on the success of the 1st New York Gypsy Festival of
the last year, the 10-day joyful and passionate Fiesta Romani is returning for
its second installment in September- October 2006.

The festival offers a broad perspective on various styles of Gypsy music and
dance against the backdrop of New York City which, being the crossroads of many
cultures, is essentially gypsy at heart.

The 2005 New York Gypsy Festival featured music from a wide geographical region
including Bulgaria, Turkey, Russia and the Balkans with performers such as Gogol
Bordello,
Ivo
Papasov
&
Yuri
Yunakov
, The Clarinet All-stars, Hungry March Band,
Zlatne Uste, Leningrad and more than a dozen of local bands.2006 Festival continues featuring high caliber local and international talent of
Gypsy (Romani) music.

The event is produced by World Music Institute and Mehanata-Meyhane (House of
Gypsy).

The festival will take place at various New York City downtown venues, Mehanata-Meyhane
(House Of Gypsy), a brand new venue on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, owned by
Serdar Ilhan and Alex Dimitrov, the producers of last year’s Gypsy Festival.

Angel Romero y Ruiz has dedicated his life to musical exploration. His efforts included the creation of two online portals, worldmusiccentral.org and musicasdelmundo.com.
