New York City, USA – Mexican bassist Victor Venegas died February 12, 2006, due to illness. He worked with the cream of US-based Latin jazz and salsa: Mongo Santamaria, Eddie Palmieri, Celia Cruz, and Ismael Rivera y sus Cachimbos.After living in Chicago, he moved to New York City, where he became the bass player for leading Latin bands.
Vic is survived by his children, Linda D. Roberts, Michael Venegas Perez, Andrew Venegas, Evan Venegas, and Mark Venegas.
