Glasgow, Scotland – January 25th is Burns Day. To
celebrate, the festival has programmed Margaret Bennett’s “For Auld Lang Syne”
concert on Saturday 28th January.
First scripted for Celtic Connections 2003 as ‘The Cotter’s Saturday Night‘,
this piece of musical theatre returns with a bigger cast to a bigger stage. A
sell-out in 2003, 2004 and 2005, the show presents a fresh, imaginative
portrayal of the life, character, personality and genius of Robert Burns. Highly entertaining, amusing and moving it is performed in costume by
first-rate musicians, singers and dancers. The performance features
singer/script-writer Margaret Bennett, guitarist/musical director Sandy Stanage
and a supporting cast including Fiona Hunter, Hamish Napier, Donald Brown, Scot
Gardener, Sarah Parker, Sandie Forbes, Siobhan Miller, Amy Lord, James MacDonald
Reid, John Sikorski, and the Aberfeldy singers.
