International Show Dedicated to Son Took Place in Havana

(Prensa Latina – Cumbancha) Havana, Cuba – An international show dedicated to
the "Son" rhythm, sponsored by Cuba and a German recording company, took place
Sunday in Havana´s America Theater. The fourth edition of Son Cuba, created in
2001 to promote Cuban artists abroad, is one of the events included in the
program of the Cuban Disc Fair (Cubadisco 2004) from May 23 through 30. The list
of artists included

Caridad Hierrezuelo
, considered the best woman
representative of the genre; Carlos Manuel Céspedes and his trio, Sonora
Universal, La Trova Camagüeyana and Manolito Simonet. In this three-hour Son
party, each band or figure has 25 minutes to prove their quality and improvising
skills, and the event closes with a jam session for all. The previous Son Cuba
shows took place in the House of World Cultures, in Berlin (Germany) and the Konzerthaus in Vienna (Austria), with performers such as Eliades Ochoa, Issac
Delgado and the Trova Santiaguera. After the performance in Havana, the act will
travel to Sweden, Spain, France, Great Britain and Canada.
