Havana, Cuba – The group Proyecto Joven Son, formed by Santiago de Cuba duet “Postrova”, septet “Luna Negra” and quintet “5 pa’ ti” will officially perform at Cubadisco 2001, to be held on May 16-20 in Havana. “Son” music’s importance and international projection was once more highlighted by this project sponsored by the EMI and Bis Music (Artex) record labels, which pay tribute to recent new groups and “trova”singers.
According to EMI Odeon Cuban Music Department director Seju Monzón Navarro, they are interested to know how young people perform traditional music. “We see that they are doing a fusion of “son” music with “guaracha” and other rhythms“, said Monzón Navarro.
