Amadou & Mariam’s new album, Folila, is scheduled for release in the United on April 10. Today’s video features “Wily Kataso,” a track from the new album, with a stellar collaboration, with TV on the Radio’s Kyp Malone and Tunde Adebimpe. The video was directed by Jennifer DeLia.
Over the last several years, Amadou & Mariam’s music has become increasingly open to new influences. Although their sound is still based on their characteristic West African blues-rock, the Malian duo has worked with new producers that have added new elements to their recordings. These include Manu Chao and Gorillaz front man Damon Albarn, in addition to their longtime producer and manager Marc-Antoine Moreau. Folila contains more international collaborations, including Nick Zinner of Yeah Yeah Yeah, Theophilus London, Bassekou Kouyate, and others.
