The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys Explore Fleeting Romance On “Coachella Moon”

The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys examine longing, chance, and a brief desert romance on “Coachella Moon,” released through Turnberry Records. Inspired by a real-life experience, the bluegrass song follows a restless traveler who leaves the snow-covered mountains for Southern California with a romantic companion. Their weekend takes places beneath a full moon over the Coachella Valley, where cactus blooms, desert nights, and moments of escape bring the pair closer.

However, dawn ends the temporary refuge and sends them back to separate lives. The song presents the relationship as both meaningful and unresolved, with memories that remain after the couple parts.

The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys formed in the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. The Grammy-nominated band has built an international following through live performances, original material, and a continued commitment to traditional bluegrass.

This song is deeply personal,” says C.J. Lewandowski. “Have you ever met someone you feel is your soulmate, but is already devoted to someone else? Someone you can’t have, but who makes your life better in every way possible? That’s what happened to me not too long ago. A happenstance meeting led to a rendezvous in the California desert. Our love grew tremendously—and still is growing—but there’s another who holds the keys to the heart I want.”

Musicians: C.J. Lewandowski on mandolin, mandola & lead vocals; Jereme Brown on banjo & harmony vocals; Jasper Lorentzen on bass; John Gooding on guitar; Max Silverstein on fiddle; and Keith Burhans on drums.
