Backline has released “Reaping the Blues,” a new single about love, loss, and reflection through a contemporary bluegrass approach. The South Carolina band weaves traditional bluegrass elements with modern influences.
The lineup includes Katelyn Ingardia on vocals; Jeff Partin on guitar, dobro, and harmony vocals; and Chris Williamson on bass.
Backline is known for a repertoire developed largely on its own songs, alongside selected country and bluegrass covers and occasional outside compositions.
Backline’s sound draws from contemporary bluegrass, yet the band also emphasizes close harmonies and tight arrangements in live performance.
The band’s name also reflects its South Carolina roots. Several members grew up in communities near former textile mills, where mill village neighborhoods were once divided into areas such as the “Boss Line,” the “Side,” and the “Back Line.” Backline adopted the name as a reference to that local history.
