Festival de la Guitarra de Córdoba Reveals 2023 Concert Schedule

The Festival de la Guitarra de Córdoba has revealed the schedule for the 2023 edition of the festival, a highly anticipated event for music enthusiasts. The festival will take place from July 6th to July 15th, 2023, in the city of Córdoba, Spain. The prestigious Instituto Municipal De Las Artes Escénicas Gran Teatro has disclosed the concert program for this year’s festival.

The festival will feature a diverse range of flamenco, classical, world music and jazz concerts and performances.

Gran Teatro Shows

Gran Teatro performances will commence at 8:30 pm, and the ticket prices for active participants of the festival will be 12 euros, with a single price for all seat types.

The program begins on Friday, July 7th, with Estévez / Paños y Compañía’s “La Confluencia,” priced between 27 and 11 euros. Gustavo Santaolalla will perform “Desandando El Camino” on Saturday, July 8th, with ticket prices ranging from 30 to 12 euros. Carlos Varela‘s concert will be held on Sunday, July 9th, with tickets available at prices ranging from 21 to 8 euros.

On Monday, July 10th, Silvia Pérez Cruz will perform “Toda La Vida, Un Día,” priced between 27 and 11 euros, followed by Marcus Miller‘s European Tour on Tuesday, July 11th, also priced between 27 and 11 euros. Zenet‘s “La Estación Del Momento” will be performed on Wednesday, July 12th, with ticket prices ranging from 27 to 11 euros.

Coti will take the stage on Thursday, July 13th, with “Cercanías y Confidencias,” priced between 27 and 11 euros. Israel Fernández‘s “Pura Sangre” will be performed on Friday, July 14th, with ticket prices ranging from 27 to 11 euros. Finally, on Saturday, July 15th, Susana Baca will present “Palabras Urgentes,” with ticket prices ranging from 21 to 8 euros.

Teatro Góngora Performances

The Teatro Góngora is presenting an exceptional series of performances, showcasing a diverse range of talented artists. The shows will be held at 8:30 pm and will cost a flat fee of 12 euros per person, with active participants of the festival being charged a reduced rate of 3 euros.

The series begins on Friday, July 7th, with Álvaro Toscano’s performance “Vistas Al Mar.” On Saturday, July 8th, Manuel Barrueco, a renowned classical guitarist, will take the stage, displaying his exceptional talent.

On Sunday, July 9th, Rosario La Tremendita will perform “Principio y Origen,” a show that explores the roots and beginnings of traditional flamenco music. The following day, Monday, July 10th, David Russell will enchant the audience with his classical guitar skills, followed by Gabacho Maroc on Tuesday, July 11th, a world music group that combines North African, Middle Eastern, and Western music, sponsored by Casa Árabe.

Wednesday, July 12th, will feature Ana Vidovic, a world-renowned classical guitarist known for her virtuosic playing style. The final performance of the series will be guitarist Juan Gómez Chicuelo‘s “Caminos,” held on Thursday, July 13th.

Teatro Axerquía

The Teatro Axerquía is one of the venues for the Festival de la Guitarra de Córdoba, which will be held from July 6th to 15th, 2023. The theater will host a range of exciting shows, including some remarkable international and Spanish artists.

On July 6th, the Festival de la Guitarra de Córdoba will present a world premiere of “Medea” and “La Canción de Andalucía,” two works by Manolo Sanlúcar. The show features the Orquesta de Córdoba, Santiago Lara, and Rocío Luna on vocals, and is directed by Michael Thomas. The admission to this show is free, but tickets are required for entry.

On July 7th, Gregory Porter, an acclaimed American jazz singer, will perform at the Teatro Axerquía. The prices for admission to the show are €40 for chairs, €35 for general admission, and €30 for limited visibility.

On July 8th, Ariel Rot and Kiko Veneno will present “Un País Para Escucharlo” at the Teatro Axerquía. Admission to the show is priced at €35 for the floor, €30 for general seating, and €25 for limited visibility.

On July 14th, Lori Meyers and Los Enemigos will perform at the Teatro Axerquía. The prices for admission to the show are €40 for the floor, €35 for general seating, and €30 for limited visibility.

Finally, on July 15th, Arde Bogotá and León Benavente will close the Festival de la Guitarra de Córdoba at the Teatro Axerquía. Admission to this show is priced at €35 for the floor, €30 for general seating, and €25 for limited visibility. Active festival students can enjoy a reduced price of €10 for general seating.

Plaza Capuchinos Shows

The Plaza Capuchinos will host two outstanding shows in the Festival de la Guitarra de Córdoba 2023. The concerts will start at 22:00h and have free admission, subject to availability.

On Monday, July 10, the renowned Camerata Gala, conducted by Alejandro Muñoz, will present the “Concierto De Aranjuez,” featuring the guitar soloist Rafael Aguirre. This concert is a remarkable tribute to the famous Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo, whose composition has become a significant piece of the guitar repertoire worldwide.

On Tuesday, July 11, the talented Antonio Gómez, known as “El Turry,” will perform his “Misa Flamenca A Morente.” The flamenco artist will pay tribute to the legendary Spanish flamenco singer Enrique Morente by reinterpreting his “Misa Flamenca” with a unique and contemporary style that blends traditional flamenco music with other genres.

Patio De Los Naranjos De La Mezquita – Catedral De Córdoba Concert

The Patio de los Naranjos, located within the Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba, is set to host a special concert event on Wednesday. The performance, entitled “El Guitarrista Azul,” features renowned guitarist José Antonio Rodríguez and the Orquesta de Córdoba under the direction of Michael Thomas. The event is scheduled to begin at 22:00 and entry is by invitation only. The concert is presented in collaboration with the Cabildo Catedral de Córdoba.

Plaza Del Potro, Centro Flamenco “Fosforito” Guitar Contest Finals

The Flamenco Center “Fosforito” in Plaza del Potro presents an event at 8:30 pm with free admission until seating capacity is reached. The event is sponsored by the Department of Culture of the City Council of Córdoba. On Monday, the 10th, the final of the Young Accompaniment Guitar Talent Contest (Concurso Jóvenes Talentos De Guitarra De Acompañamiento) organized by the Cristina Heeren Foundation will take place.
