Open Call to World Music Artists, Andrea Parodi Prize 2022

The Andrea Parodi Prize competition, one of the most important European world music contests, is now accepting artists for its 15th edition. Finals will be held in Cagliari, Italy in the autumn of 2022. Registration is free and open to all international world music artists. Deadline to apply is May 31, 2022.

Submissions must follow the guidelines and format found at www.fondazioneandreaparodi.it, including the following:

  • 2 songs, one of which will be entered in competition (2 mp3 files with live performances or recordings, including previously released material); must indicate which of the two songs you intend to compete with; the pieces cannot be just instrumental and must identify an entire artistic project linked to world music.
  • texts and translations into Italian of the two pieces;
  • artist biography or curriculum vitae of the competitor (single or group).

An artistic commission chosen by the organization will select, anonymously, ten finalists, who will perform live in the final phase in front of a large jury composed of authoritative experts, such as singers, authors, musicians, festival managers, agents, record companies, press offices, journalists, music critics, both Italian and international.

The overall winner will be entitled to a €2,500 grant, as well as the opportunity to perform in some Parodi partner festivals in 2023, such as the European Jazz Expo (Sardinia), Folkest (Friuli), as well as at the Andrea Parodi Award itself. The winner of the Critics’ Prize will have the opportunity to create a professional music video of the piece in competition, produced by the Andrea Parodi Foundation. In addition, some of the partner festivals (such as Mare e Miniere, Bianca d’Aponte Award, City of Loano Award for traditional Italian music, Mo’l’estate Spirit Festival, Musiconnect-Italy) will be able to invite one or more finalists as guests.
