World Music Contest Premio Andrea Parodi to Select 2020 Finalists This Week

European world music award Premio Andrea Parodi is currently presenting the finals of 2020’s 13th edition during May 14 and 15, 2021. The finals were originally scheduled for last autumn but were later postponed due to the pandemic health emergency.

The event, under the artistic direction of Elena Ledda, is taking place at Si’ e Boi Theatre in Selargius (Cagliari), starting at 18:00 (6.00 pm) both days.

The finalists include Alessio Arena (Campania, Italy/Spain); Ars Nova Napoli (Campania, Italy); Eleonora Bordonaro (Sicily, Italy); Elena D`Ascenzo (Abruzzo, Italy); Kalascima (Salento, Italy); Maria Mazzotta (Salento, Italy); Danilo Ruggero (Sicily, Italy); Stefania Secci Rosa (Sardinia/Portugal); Still Life (Spain). One of the artists scheduled to perform, Abramo Laye Senè & Gaalgui World Music Band will not be able to participate.

Premio Andrea Parodi is the only Italian World Music Award. It was created in honor of the distinguished Sardinian artist Andrea Parodi, who passed away 15 years ago. He had a highly valued career and was an international reference of World Music.

The finalists will perform in Selargius in front of a Technical Jury (professionals, authors, musicians, poets, writers and songwriters) and a Critical Jury (journalists).

The winner will receive several prizes, including concerts and participation in some of the most important Italian music festivals such as the European Jazz Expo in Sardinia, Folkest in Friuli. In addition, the winners will be the recipients of a €2,500 grant. The winner of the Critics’ Awards will receive the production of a professional music video of their competition song, provided by the Andrea Parodi Foundation. One of the finalists will be invited to the Mare e Miniere Festival.

In the meantime the competition notice for 14th edition of Premio Andrea Parodi is available online; the finals of 14th edition will take place in Cagliari 14-16, 2021. The competition is open to artists coming from all over the world, and registration is free. Applications must be sent by May 31, 2021 using the format found online at www.fondazioneandreaparodi.it
