Cuban changüí band Las Flores del Changüí have released a new music video titled “Cuidao con la Lengua” (Careful with the tongue). The song will appear in Changüí – The Sound of Guantánamo, a new 3 CD boxed set of on-site recordings of changüí music from the Guantánamo region of Cuba. Changüí – The Sound of Guantánamo is set for release on July 9, 2021 through Petaluma Records.
Las Flores del Changüí is an all-female group that exemplifies the authentic sound of Changüí. Bandleader and songwriter Floridia Hernández Daudinot’s grandmother was a changüí tres player, and her own daughter is continuing the family tradition by playing guayo (scraper) in the ensemble.
