Douglas Felipe Reveals His Roots on Afro

Brazilian multi-instrumentalist, arranger and composer Douglas Felipe has released an album titled Afro. Felipe recorded this engaging album which is deeply grounded in Afro-Brazilian, African and Caribbean rhythms, including Afoxé, Axé, Afrobeat, Candombe, Samba, Samba Reggae, Forró, and Reggae.

Douglas Felipe was a member of the award-winning Brazilian band Olodum. He has toured with the iconic Carlinhos Brown and many other top musicians in Brazil. He currently lives in Los Angeles (California, USA). After 30 years on the road, Douglas Felipe recorded Afro, which is his debut solo album.

It’s a work with no place for ego, where space is filled with the manifestation of messages and reflection ranging from love to protest. Although each song reveals a different meaning, they all travel thru its African source”, explains Felipe.

Afro includes Japa System on percussion, Cesario Leony and Elpidio Bastos on bass, and Douglas Felipe on vocals and keyboards.
