The award was chosen by the jury consisting of members Tuuli Saksala, Mervi Vuorela, Mirva Merimaa and Måns Strömberg (aka DJ Bunuel) and given by DJ Bunuel.

Tuuli Saksala said: “Niemi is a sound work that you don’t have to label when you listen to it. It’s a soundscape to lull into. The tones of folk music can be heard in the songs, but with Inka Niemi’s personal, modern touch. And the fact that the language of the lyrics speaks in modern times is extremely charming.”
