Nsimba Foggis & Taxi Pata Pata in London at The Tabernacle

WOM@ TT (World of Music at The Tabernacle) presents Nsimba Foggis & Taxi Pata Pata at The Tabernacle, Powis Square, London W11 2AY on Saturday September 25th between 7-11pm with DJ Wala, Mr K & DJ Debbie. Nsimba Foggis is the hottest sizzlingest soukous you could imagine.

Nsimba Foggis & Taxi Pata Pata are based in West London and were the first UK based band to have a BBC Radio1 session, also winning a Golden Rose award for best music in an ad alongside John Peel who was a huge fan. For Charlie Gillett they were quite simply “Britain’s Best African Band”! Now they will receive a Best of British Award at this event.

Nsimba Foggis & Taxi Pata Pata play that wonderful soukous music from Democratic Republic of the Congo- rippling liquid guitars, punchy horns, rappattack drums, serious moves topped with the sweetest vocals: Taxi Pata Pata combine the beat of the bush with the heat of the city (NME) : Nsimba Fogis comes from a folkloric and urban background in Kinshasa. He honed his skills at the Conservatoire in Luanda and has imbibed UK sounds as well, especially London (where he has live since 1983). Nsimba’s soukous takes the music in a new direction – pan African, pan London – in tunes that ‘go somewhere’. Quite simply indeed Britain’s best African Band. Dancez! Dancez!

The legendary Safroman, the High Priest of Soukous is joining the band as guitarist – so it’s The Soukous Maestro vs The High Priest – making this an essential night to see Soukous at its finest. People have to arrive early though as it has to finish by 11pm. Dancing shoes are recommended.

Tickets are £8 advance/concs & £10 door. Buy advance tickets via www.carnivalvillage.org.uk and add names to the mailing list via womaatt@ gmail.com. Discounts are possible for those who email mentioning World Music Central – and entrants could win a pair of free tickets.
