Uzbek Music
The roots of Uzbek music go back to antiquity (4th century B.C.). It was Herodotus who wrote on the abundance of tribal songs and dances in the region that is currently Uzbekistan and he described the role this music played in the lives of the ancient inhabitants of Central Asia.
Inherent to the ethnic and regional diversity of Uzbekistan four styles of music can be distinguished: Surkandarya, Kashkadarya, Boukhara-Samarkand Khorazme, and Fergana-Tashkent. (Source: Mina Rad).
