Irish accordionist Sharon Shannon has a new album titled Saints & Scoundrels (Compass Records) that will be available at all major retail outlets in the United States on January 12 of 2010. After the major quadruple-platinum selling success of Galway Girl and receiving two Meteor awards, Sharon Shannon’s Saints & Scoundrels includes several newly penned tracks and boasts many special guests including members of The Waterboys, Imelda May, Shane MacGowan, Jerry Fish, Carol Keogh (Automata), Justin Adams (Robert Plant Band), Jack O’Grady, and introduces us to the mighty Cartoon Thieves.
Standout tracks include "Go Tell the Devil" featuring Irish burlesque and rockabilly vocalist Imelda May, and "Saints & Angels" written by Mike Scott. Originally intended for The Waterboys’ Fisherman’s Blues, "Saints and Angels" is a part reunion of that classic 1989 line-up that includes Mike, Steve Wickham, Anthony Thistlethwaite and Sharon. The instrumental "Cape Clear" is also in the new feature film Ondine (recently debuted at the Toronto Film Festival), starring Colin Farrell and featuring Sharon Shannon as herself.
