Parapandafolk 2010 begins Wednesday, July 28. The veteran festival takes place in Illora (Granada) and celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. All concerts are held in a former high school.
The program this year includes Maria del Mar Bonet‘s special project, titled Bellver, with a symphony orchestra. She will be accompanied by Orquesta de Atarfe.
Human rights organization Amnesty International will hold a benefit concert during the festival’s Flamenco night, featuring the legendary vocalist Enrique Morente.
The rest of the festival includes concerts by percussion ensemble Coetus and Spanish folk music researcher and innovator Eliseo Parra, and folk band. Multi-instrumentalist Carlos Núñez returns to the festival to present his new album, which features renowned Brazilian musicians, showing the connections between Galicia (Spain) and Brazil.

The festival is organized by the Cultural Department of the Íllora City Council with support from the Junta de Andalucía (Andalusian Regional Government), the Diputación Provincial (Provincial Government) and several private sponsors. Íllora is located in north-western Granada province, surrounded by olive groves.
All concerts are held at 22:30 (10:30 pm) in the courtyard of the former Instituto Diego de Siloé high school. All performances are free except Enrique Morente’s.
