Asian Dub Foundation will perform live their new soundtrack to the cult classic sci-fi movie THX 1138 on Friday, June 19th at Barbican Hall in London. THX 1138 is an alarming dystopian fantasy set in an Orwellian future where mood-stabilizing drugs are mandatory, sex is prohibited, and a young Robert Duval silently rages against the system.

George Lucas’s 1971 debut includes a young Duval and Donald Pleasance, with Francis Ford Coppola producing. Not an instant classic, THX 1138 had an effect over the decades and has been sampled by numerous influential electronic artists including Nine Inch Nails, The Shamen, Meat Beat Manifesto, UNKLE, Orbital, Front 242, Laibach and Clock DVA.

Frequent collaborators, Asian Dub Foundation have mixed their trademark fusion of punk, electronic beats, reggae, bhangra and hip-hop with artists such as Radiohead, Chuck D, Primal Scream and Sinead O’Connor. Having worked against oppression and injustice for 20 years, Asian Dub Foundation still remain musical innovators and an exciting live act.

The group’s discography includes Punkara, Community Music, Tank, Enemy of the Enemy, History of Now, and Rafi’s Revenge.

Produced by the Barbican in association with No-Nation. Originally commissioned by BRIC Arts and Music Beyond Mainstream.
