Bluegrass After Hours: Wide Open Late to Present Bluegrass Music In Downtown Raleigh

Bluegrass_After_HoursBluegrass After Hours: Wide Open Late will provide bluegrass fans an opportunity to enjoy bluegrass music in downtown Raleigh late into the evenings on Friday and Saturday, October 3–4, from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. during the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA)’s Wide Open Bluegrass festival.

The Downtown Raleigh Alliance has partnered with IBMA, the Greater Raleigh Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Raleigh Convention Center to develop the connection between the festival and downtown merchants, and to help offset the cost of producing late night bluegrass entertainment at these businesses following the Wide Open Bluegrass festival during the day. Ten venues have committed to hosting a bluegrass performance on Friday and/or Saturday night from 10:00 p.m-2:00 a.m. Participating venues are:

The Lincoln Theatre: 430 S. Dawson Street
The Pour House Music Hall: 224 S. Blount Street
Tir Na Nog: 218 S. Blount Street
King’s Barcade: 14 W. Martin Street
Deep South: 430 S Dawson St
Hibernian: 311 Glenwood Ave
Napper Tandy’s: 410 Glenwood Ave
Natty Greene’s: 505 W Jones St
Lucky B’s Around the Corner: 609 Tucker St.
• the patio at Plates Kitchen and Sushi Blues: 301 Glenwood Ave

These Wide Open Late Night performances are a new addition to this year’s World of Bluegrass and Wide Open Bluegrass events. “Downtown Raleigh is home to a vibrant and thriving music scene year round, and the Downtown Raleigh Alliance is happy to support the night life venues throughout the IBMA World of Bluegrass week and help them to capitalize on the thousands of people in town for this great event. We hope local residents and conference attendees take advantage of the opportunity to get out and see the city,” said David Diaz, President and CEO of the Downtown Raleigh Alliance.

IBMA’s World of Bluegrass event, an annual bluegrass music homecoming, consists of four parts: the IBMA Business Conference, September 30 – October 2, the 25th Annual International Bluegrass Music Awards, scheduled for Thursday evening, October 2, Wide Open Bluegrass, October 3-4 (which includes both free stages and ticketed performances) and the Bluegrass Ramble, a series of showcases, taking place September 30 – October 2 in downtown Raleigh and at the Raleigh Convention Center.
