WOMEX invites artists from all over the globe to showcase at the most important international gathering of world music professionals, WOMEX 2010 in Copenhagen. The selected acts will be playing in front of 1,000 international bookers, countless labels, distributors, journalists; everyone they need to help launch, sustain and expand their careers.
WOMEX 09 Showcase act Kouyaté-Neerman expressed great satisfaction after their show: “The feedback we already have is amazing: a tour in the UK including the Brighton Festival, a potential festival tour in Canada and options at the Lincoln Jazz Center in NY, Chicago, agents and release of the album in Italy, 2 festivals in France, and much interest from all around Europe and Asia: We could not expect such a success. This was really worth the investment!!”
In 2009 WOMEX received around 700 artist proposals for almost 40 slots. The selection is done by the WOMEX Jury – the famous 7 Samurai – made up each year of a new generation of world music passionates.
