MIMO cultural festival will be presenting some of the finest international and Brazilian world music and jazz acts in several Brazilian festivals, including Ouro Preto (Minas Gerais, Central Brazil); Olinda (Pernambuco, North-East Brazil); Olinda (Pernambuco, North-East Brazil); Paraty (Rio de Janeiro State, South Brazil); and Tiradentes (Minas Gerais, Central Brazil). Live music highlights for 2014 include Chick Corea, Nana Vasconcelos, Salif Keita, Bassekou Kouyate, Trilok Gurtu Quartet, Jordi Savall, and Toninho Horta.
This significant cultural festival is held across several locations during its annual season. Its primary component is an international program of music, from world music to classical to jazz, staged in some of the oldest and most beautiful cities in Brazil. All events are free to the public and take place in churches, squares and courtyards in settings noted for their stunning Baroque architecture.
The concerts run concurrently with the outdoor Film Festival screenings, and MIMO’s Educational Program for children from local schools. MIMO presents music, cinema, visual art, workshops and master classes in a celebration of free access to all kinds of culture.
