The 13th Fiesta del Tambor Festival to Take Place in Havana

The 13th Fiesta del Tambor Festival (Drum Festival) will take place in Havana from March 11 to 14, 2014 at different venues, including the Mella and Karl Marx theaters, the Habana Libre Hotel, the Salon Rosado de la Tropical, and Palacio de la Rumba.

Cuban musician Giraldo Piloto, president of this annual event, revealed to Radio Cadena Habana that the program also includes the Guillermo Barreto In Memoriam Percussion Contest, in the specialties of drum sets, conga drums, bongo drums and batá drums, where professionals and amateurs of all ages will be able to participate.

Piloto indicated that the festival will feature jazz groups, folkloric ensembles, dancers and comparsas, and he added that it will also include competitive encounters of Casino traditional dance.

Registration to participate at Fiesta del Tambor Festival will take place at Empresa Cubana de Música Ignacio Piñeiro during the first days of January.
