Cameroonian jazz bassist and singer-songwriter Richard Bona is set to perform on Friday, August 30, 2013 at SubCulture, a new underground venue in NoHo (North of Houston Stree) in New York City.

Born and raised in Cameroon, Bona discovered jazz music at the age of 14, and has built a solid reputation in the European and North American music business. He first moved to Paris and later relocated to New York in the 1990s.

Bona has collaborated with various jazz and world music bands and began recording his own songs in 1999 with his first album Scenes From My Life. His new album, Bonafied mixes a very personal and unique technique with rhythms from his native Africa and influences of his travel experiences that make him one of the most talented jazz bass players of his generation.

Bona will perform at SubCulture with his Afro-Cuban project Mandekan Cubano.
