Kamerunga Releases Video with Highlights from 2011 Rainforest World Music Festival

Australian contemporary folk band Kamerunga has released a music video with highlights from their performance earlier this year at the 2011 Rainforest World Music Festival in Malaysian Borneo.

Kamerunga was one of the most notable discoveries this year at the Rainforest World Music Festival held in Sarawak. It has redefined and reinvigorated Australian folk music since its inception in 2008 with a funky, multi-hued interpretation of colonial standards. Celtic tunes, jazz, reggae, rock and world music elements sit side by side in its serpentine music, taking audiences on an exhilarating journey.

Based in Cairns in the heart of tropical north Queensland, Kamerunga melds mandolin, fiddle and guitar wizardry with red-hot saxophone, keyboards and a dynamic rhythm section.

The Cairns-based sextet has become a firm favorite on the national festival circuit, putting in acclaimed performances at Woodford, Port Fairy, The Dreaming, Byron Bay Bluesfest, The National, Bellingen Global Carnival, Wintermoon, the Australasian World Music Expo and other major events around Australia.
