Hamburg, Germany – H2 media factory GmbH, the operating company of the large music download portal www.akuma.de "Digital store for music") situated in Hamburg, Germany, is now active as a music label. On akuma.de 1.5 million songs in mp3-format are ready for download. The portal represents close to 75,000 artists.
With the new label "akuma Recordings" akuma.de pursues a new strategy of services for artists and of album release. The digital distribution of albums here stands at the center.
"akuma Recordings" starts out with the release of the third album by the Turkish-German band Orientation from Berlin. The band is known for its musical contribution to the movie "Head-On" (original title: "Gegen die Wand"). The movie by director Fatih Akin (www.gegendiewand.de) received, among other things, one of the most prestigious international movie awards, a Golden Bear at the Berlinale in 2004. On the occasion of the Popkomm exposition (8 to 10 October in Berlin), "akuma Recordings" organizes a release party for the new album, which comes out under the title "Orientation biz." The release party will take place on 9 October 2008 at 8 p.m. at the hip Berlin In-Club "Tausend". Cultural and media journalists are very welcome and will receive an invitation to the akuma event within the next days.
"With our decision to establish akuma.de as a music label in the market, we give the music business a new direction", says Olga Hottes, project manager of akuma.de. The company wants to change distribution in profound ways, thereby lowering the entry barriers for bands. The new album "Orientation biz" will be available for purchase from 9 October on akuma.de, concurrently to the release party in Berlin. After the digital release the company wants to cooperate with select distribution partners and offer the CDs for purchase in music stores worldwide as well. Currently akuma is in negotiation with diverse distribution companies.
