Talk of the Town: Grace Stewart-Skinner Honors Avoch in Debut Album

Scottish harp player and composer Grace Stewart-Skinner’s debut album Auchies Spikkin’ Auchie combines newly composed music with field recordings from her native village of Avoch. Framed as an ethnomusicological tribute, the album captures the voices and spirit of the community. Avoch is a seaside village located on the south-east coast of the Black Isle, on the Moray Firth, in northern Scotland.

The album includes the voices of Ross Skinner, Alastair Jack, Grace Stewart-Skinner, Moira Reid and Lewie Patience.

Musicians featured: Grace Stewart-Skinner on clàrsach (harp); Rose Logan on fiddle; Rhona MacDonald on double bass; and Ewa Adameic on percussion.
