The cover of Calle Mambo’s Retumba la Tierra features a surreal image of an ancestral figure seated at the center of a cracked, arid landscape. Dressed in traditional Andean attire and wearing a colorful ceremonial mask, the figure’s body merges into tree roots that extend deep into the earth. Behind them, towering mountains and dramatic skies.

Earth, Wind, and Firepower: Calle Mambo Shakes Things Up with “Retumba la Tierra”

Chilean quintet Calle Mambo returns with “Retumba la Tierra,” a single that doubles as both a wake-up call and a celebration. Released ahead of their upcoming self-titled third album, due out June 6, 2025, the track fuses traditional Latin American instrumentation with modern urban and electronic sounds.

Musically, the song layers Colombian rhythms, Venezuelan cuatro, ronroco, timbales, congas, cajones, and tiple alongside electronic samples and bass.

Lyrically, “Retumba la Tierra” delivers a message of environmental awareness and collective responsibility. Calle Mambo describes the song as a reflection on humanity’s impact on nature, while also offering a sense of hope and reconnection. The accompanying artwork portrays an ancestral figure rooted in the earth, symbolizing this bond.

Founded in 2013, Calle Mambo is known for mixing cumbia, son, flamenco rumba, funk, and Balkan influences into a cohesive and modern sound. Their music reflects both cultural fusion and a commitment to social and ecological themes.

Following the album’s release, the group will embark on a European tour from March to October 2025 to promote Retumba la Tierra.
