Enchanting Balkan Mix of Gadulka, Guitar and Accordion

Trio Grekow / Peev / Tsvyatkov – Balkan Grooves (Amadeus, 2023)

Trio Grekow / Peev / Tsvyatkov is an exceptional Polish-Bulgarian instrumental ensemble that masterfully combines chamber-style world fusion. On Balkan Grooves, this trio uses the accordion, the gadulka (a traditional Bulgarian fiddle played vertically) and the guitar. They craft an intricate yet accessible and engaging form of ethno-jazz. Their music, inspired by Balkan traditions, Western classical influences, and contemporary jazz, results in a captivating and original fusion of styles and musical colors.

The choice to combine the guitar, accordion, and Bulgarian gadulka is both innovative and inspired. Each musician brings virtuosity, creativity, and passion to the ensemble, resulting in a fascinating collection of melodies that are both sophisticated and enchanting.

Musicians: Jacek Grekow on accordion; Peyo Peev on gadulka; and Hristiyan Tsvyatkov on guitar.
