The ninth edition of the Flamenco Festival ‘Ciudad de Huelva’ will take place from May 30 to June 9, organized by the Huelva City Council and the Cajasol Foundation.
Matilde Valdivia, representing the Cajasol Foundation, emphasized the foundation’s long-standing support of flamenco, expressing pride in collaborating to help the festival grow into a significant cultural event. She acknowledged the crucial role of flamenco clubs and associations in ensuring the continuity of this art form for future generations.
The festival will feature exhibitions, educational workshops, masterclasses, discussions, and the Young Fandango Contest by the Peña Flamenca de La Orden. Highlight performances include the internationally acclaimed María Pagés Company, recipient of this year’s Ciudad de Huelva award, who will close the festival with a grand performance at the Casa Colón on June 9. Other notable artists include virtuoso guitarist Dani de Morón, who will open the festival on May 30, and renowned singers such as El Pele, Luis El Zambo, JuanFran Carrasco, Lela Soto, Dolores la Agujeta, and Pedro El Granaíno.
Local talent will also be showcased, with performances by Huelva’s own Lucía Beltrán, María Canea, Paco Cruzado, Carmen Molina, Álvaro Mora, and Juani Mora, presenting ‘Poemas de mi tío’ produced by the versatile Jesús Fariña.
In addition to performances, the exhibition ‘Flamenco Figures’ by Patricio Hidalgo, the festival’s poster artist, will be on display at Casa Colón from May 30 to June 9.
