Malian star Fatoumata Diawara has unveiled the music video for her track “Blues,” featuring Roberto Fonseca. The song serves as a tribute to her global family, friends, and supporters.
Drawing inspiration from Bambara culture, Fatoumata invokes the djinn spirits, guardians of familial, communal, and national well-being, to express gratitude for their protection.
“Blues” is part of Fatoumata’s recent highly-praised album, London Ko, which showcases a captivating fusion of Wassulou traditions and diverse international influences. Collaborators on the album include Damon Albarn, Roberto Fonseca, Angie Stone, among others.
