The album cover for Cushla's Tech-Duinn features a figure draped in a voluminous, golden-yellow, embroidered cloak adorned with floral patterns. The figure wears an ornate, medieval-style helmet topped with an extravagant black sculptural plume, while a black mask conceals the face. Set against a muted gray background.

Cushla Weaves Irish Tradition Into Tech

Following a breakout year, Cushla returns with “7 Years,” a reimagined Celtic folk ballad and the lead single from their debut album Tech Duinn, released April 25 via Foehn Records.

Built around the “broken-token” motif from traditional balladry, “7 Years” combines sean-nós vocals by Nell Ní Chróinín with analog synths, layered electronics, and traditional Irish instrumentation including pipes, fiddles, and drones. The result is a cinematic, genre-blurring track that bridges ancient storytelling with contemporary sound design.

With this release, Cushla continues to explore Ireland’s musical heritage through an experimental, forward-leaning lens.
