Cajasol Announces International Flamenco Symphony Composition Contest

The Cajasol Foundation, in collaboration with the International Chair of Symphonic Flamenco and the Rafael Orozco Conservatory of Music in Córdoba, have announced the First Cajasol International Flamenco Symphony Composition Competition (Concurso Internacional Cajasol de Composición para Flamenco Sinfónico).

The competition aims to promote the growing genre of symphonic flamenco by encouraging the creation of original works that combine the essence of flamenco tradition with the symphonic orchestra’s expression. It is open to composers of any nationality and age.

Participants must submit an original composition rooted strictly in flamenco, works inspired merely by Andalusian or Spanish music will not be accepted. Submissions should last between 10 and 20 minutes and may incorporate various palos (flamenco styles) at the composer’s discretion.

Entries will be evaluated based on quality, technical difficulty, originality, and innovation, while maintaining respect for flamenco’s core elements.

With this initiative, the Cajasol Foundation reaffirms its commitment to Andalusian culture and supports the innovation and internationalization of one of its most iconic musical expressions.
