Blanca Altable and Jesús Enrique “Chuchi” Cuadrado introduce “Mantra,” the first preview of their upcoming album Universo, set for release in fall 2025.
This instrumental composition brings together fiddle and acoustic guitar in a seamless dialog, structured in two interwoven sections, one conceived by Chuchi, the other by Blanca, each shaped by the influence of the other. The result is a hypnotic piece that merges tradition with innovation.
Blanca and Chuchi have been redefining Castilian folk music since 2009, moving beyond reinterpretation to compose original works that transcend cultural boundaries. Their previous albums, Mayo (2011) and Tyto Alba (2016), present this evolution, earning them recognition such as the National Prize for Musical Creation (INJUVE 2010). They have performed at Spain’s major folk festivals, represented the country at the European Broadcasting Union’s Folk Festival, and toured internationally.
With Universo, they continue their exploration of a borderless folk sound, incorporating global influences while remaining rooted in tradition.
Musicians: Blanca Altable on violin; and Jesús Enrique ‘Chuchitarra on acoustic guitar.
