Ireland’s Folk Conference Relocates to Killarney, Expands Offerings for 2025

Your Roots Are Showing, Ireland’s leading folk, roots, and traditional music conference, will hold its third annual event from January 15–19, 2025, at the Gleneagle Hotel in Killarney, County Kerry. Renowned for fostering connections and promoting the growth of traditional and contemporary folk music, the conference promises five days of dynamic programming tailored to artists, industry professionals, and enthusiasts alike.

Key features include:

  • Showcase Performances: Over 100 artists from around the world will perform on four stages at the Gleneagle Hotel.
  • Educational Panels and Keynotes: Discussions on trends and challenges in the folk and traditional music landscape.
  • Networking Opportunities: Dedicated sessions to connect artists, industry leaders, and talent buyers.
  • Music Trail: A curated series of performances throughout Killarney.
  • Irish Folklore and Traditional Music Sessions: Celebrating the rich heritage of Irish culture.

This year marks a significant expansion with the move to the Gleneagle Hotel, conveniently located next to the Gleneagle INEC Arena, Ireland’s largest venue for conferences and events outside of Dublin. The new location enhances the conference’s ability to host larger audiences and provide more diverse programming.

Due to the incredible response we received last year, we’ve chosen a larger venue for 2025. The Gleneagle Hotel/INEC will now host our event, offering an ideal setting in the heart of Killarney—a charming, walkable town surrounded by national parks and rich in Irish history,” said Charlene Sloan, co-founder of the conference.

Attendees will have a packed agenda but will also have the chance to enjoy a bit of relaxation and explore the stunning local surroundings. This year, we’ve expanded with more stages, workshops, panels, and networking opportunities than ever before,” conveyed Brendan McCreanor, who co-founded the conference alongside Sloan.

We’re kicking off the week with a curated concert featuring some of the most celebrated artists in the folk, Americana, and roots scenes. Additionally, we’re excited to introduce highly requested Ireland-centric workshops, including traditional music sessions, our Music Trail through the beautiful town of Killarney, as well as language and storytelling workshops. We will also feature Irish crafters and food vendors as part of our trade fair, offering attendees an authentic taste of local craftsmanship and cuisine

RTÉ covered the January 2024 conference, noting Your Roots Are Showing is “bringing together experienced and emerging folk musicians, with industry insiders and talent bookers from home and abroad.”
