The SGAE Foundation concludes its Nuevos Territorios series with an electrifying showcase of contemporary flamenco on December 13 and 14 at Sala Berlanga in Madrid (Andrés Mellado 53). Tickets, priced at €6.50, are available at the venue and online via entradas.com. This edition, curated by renowned Sevillian artist Rosario La Tremendita, highlights emerging talents reshaping the flamenco genre.
Day 1: Flamenco Fusion and Rising Stars
On Friday, December 13, the event kicks off at 7:30 PM with a conversation between Rosario La Tremendita and José Manuel Gamboa, a noted flamenco scholar and professor at the University of Jerez de la Frontera. Following this, two dynamic duos take the stage:
- Israel El Moro & José Manuel León: Presenting a yet-to-be-announced album recorded in Dubai, mixing traditional flamenco with Arabic influences.
- Cristina Tovar & Dani Bonilla: A cantaora and guitarist duo known for merging classic flamenco with avant-garde arrangements, a project that has captivated major flamenco circuits across Spain.
Day 2: Innovation Meets Tradition
Saturday, December 14, begins at 8 PM with a performance by young percussionist Manuel de la Torre. Known for his jazz-infused flamenco artistry, his Madrid debut will feature a multi-instrumental ensemble alongside dancer Sara Sánchez and cantaor Israel El Moro.
Closing the program is Kiko Peña, an acclaimed young cantaor from Écija. Mentored by flamenco icon Miguel Poveda and known for appearances on La Voz and Tierra de Talento, Peña’s set combines flamenco with Latin jazz influences, supported by guitarist Óscar Lago and dancer José Manuel Oruco.
